  What an innovation! What the engineers of the carbon offshoot of the thyssenkrupp group have done is almost unbelievable: they have managed to produce carbon wheel sets for various supersport bikes that not only bring about a noticeable improvement in the handling of the motorcycle, they provide exceptional stability and shatterproof characteristics - a decisive prerequisite for the official seal of approval: these carbon wheels are street-legal and type approved for Germany.

  You can ride legally with ultra-light carbon wheel rims on public roads right now. These high-tech wheel rims are manufactured in Germany by thyssenkrupp Carbon Components on a gigantic loom, the biggest radial braiding machine in the world. The raw parts, which are still relatively soft, are then put in special ovens and "baked" with special plastics. This ensures the required hardness. The assembly with CNC-machined aluminium mounts for the various vehicles is ultimately carried out manually under extremely strict manufacturing controls.
  Thyssenkrupp is currently manufacturing carbon wheels with the same quality, performance and weight. There are however two different designs:
  STYLE 1 - simple, no-frills, highly dynamic, with seven powerful oval holes and gently curving spokes -
  and also STYLE 2, which involves a more elaborate production process - with racing look and seven more slender intertwined spokes.

  The carbon wheels are more than 2 kilos lighter than aluminium wheel rims and are far more stable, but also far more flexible: it has been demonstrated that the carbon wheel rim can handle a simulated impact on a curbstone far better than a wheel rim made of steel or aluminium.

  To ensure maximum safety of the carbon wheel rims, a complex final inspection is also carried out during which not only computer-controlled measurements of the wheel rims are carried out to verify tolerances in the tenth of a millimetre range, but also every wheel is examined in an X-ray machine to highlight any fine cracks that may be present. Throughout the entire manufacturing process, a chip in every wheel saves all data. thyssenkrupp archives this information, which can be used if required to accurately verify that the wheel rim was delivered in perfect condition.
