At this speed, at which airplanes have already taken off, the home straight becomes a narrow line for MotoGP pilots.
But the SHOEI X-SPR Pro is made exactly for these extreme situations. With its uncompromising design, an aerodynamic shape for maximum stability and a ventilation system radically directed into the wind for maximum fresh air supply, this helmet gives you the decisive ad-vantage on the racetrack.
A 6-layer compound of glass fibers, organic fibers and high-performance fiber materials forms the basis of the AIM+ outer shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus) of the SHOEI X-SPR Pro.
Together with a polystyrene core system composed of several differently absorbent elements, this outer shell offers optimum impact protection at a very low overall weight of the helmet homologized according to the new ECE-R 22.06 test standard.
Its FIM homologation makes the SHOEI X-SPR Pro ready for racing use.
The chin strap with double-D fastener is easily adjustable and holds the helmet securely in position.
The EQRS system (Emergency Quick Release System) makes it easy to remove the cheek pads in an emergency, thus enabling gentle helmet removal.
With 4 different outer shell sizes (XS-S | M | L | XL-XXL), the SHOEI X-SPR Pro offers the perfect ratio of helmet shell-size and weight to the head size of the wearer in all offered helmet sizes.
Its modular head padding with integrated pockets can be easily and precisely adapted to individual head shapes and individual demands with insertable pads, for the ultimate fit, maximum stability and reliable protection.
The newly designed cheek pads with their cushion core produced in a complex 3D-cut process contribute significantly to the stable fit of the X-SPR PRO with their more than doubled contact surface, even at speeds of more than 350 km/h, and reduce the lift force by 3% compared to the predecessor model.
The variable attachment of the cheek pads allows the helmet's fit angle to be changed by 4 degrees on the head, thus extending the vertical angle of vision in an extremely forward-leaning, sporty sitting position.
The head padding, which is contoured for highly effective ventilation, the cheek pads as well as the chin strap padding with quick-drying and skin-friendly cover material are completely removable and washable.
Maximum exposed ventilation inlets, optimally designed for a strongly forward leaning and ducked seating position on the racing motorbike, underline the uncompromising orientation of the X-SPR Pro also in terms of ventilation.
A total of 7 fresh air inlets and 6 air vents are connected to each other via a deeply branched ventilation system and ensure an even more intensive and performance-enhancing exchange of fresh and used air compared to the predecessor model.
For greater comfort in high summer temperatures or during endurance races, the performance of the cheek pad ventilation has been significantly improved by almost doubling the ventilation openings on the inside of the helmet.
The inner lining of the chin area of the X-SPR Pro is prepared for the installation of a hydration system. Regular fluid intake via the hydration system helps the rider to maintain concentration over a longer period of time, even in high summer weather conditions or endurance races.
The X-SPR Pro is uncompromisingly designed for use in racing. Its shape and aerodynamic properties allow the rider to focus fully on the track and the racing action, even at the highest speeds.
The outer shell has been completely redesigned to improve aerodynamic performance. After many hours in the wind tunnel, more than 150 improvements were made to the outer shell shape of the previous model and incorporated into the design of the X-SPR Pro using SHOEI's superior helmet shell shaping technology.
The newly developed stabilizer in the back of the head directs the airstream into the tunnels on the left and right and guides it through the stabilizer and the rear spoiler. This results in a more aerodynamically balanced shape of the helmet shell (patent pending).
The pronounced lateral edges at the top left and right of the helmet function as tail fins and, in combination with the concave top of the stabilizer at the rear and the lateral tail fins, contribute to the helmet's high directional stability.
This distinctive area stands out in the helmet's design and gives the helmet a balanced expression of style and safety. The combined efforts of SHOEI's production, testing and development teams come together at this point.
The new CWR-F2R visor, with its 5 mm larger vertical field of view, offers a promising visual advantage in extreme forward leaning riding positions on a racing motorbike. At lean angles, where even the elbow touches the tarmac, this increased field of vision contributes to the rider's safety.
Tear-off films can be attached to the standard CWR-F2R clear visor for use on the racetrack.
A double locking mechanism prevents accidental opening of the visor in the event of a crash. A lever can also be used to block the release mechanism of the visor mechanism.
An antifog PINLOCK®EVO lens is included with the helmet and is attached to pins in the visor that are located outside the horizontal field of vision. This increase in usable field of vision offers additional active safety in racing as well as in road traffic.
Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery of the SHOEI X-SPR Pro includes a PINLOCK®EVO lens for use in the factory-mounted visor type CWR-F2R as well as replacement pins.
Also included are a Breath Guard, a Chin Curtain, a clip-on chin spoiler to reduce drafts and turbulence, SHOEI logo stickers, an original SHOEI helmet bag for gentle storage of the helmet and a silicone oil to care for the visor seal and mechanism.
The helmet manual and the brochure "How to use your helmet properly" provide valuable information on the use, maintenance and care of the SHOEI X-SPR Pro.

AIM+ outer shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus)
The Shoei helmet shell is a three-dimensional structure made of several layers of glass fibers and organic fibers - the so-called Advanced Integrated Matrix. The organic fibers reinforce the glass fibers and optimize weight.
The structure is bonded by an unsaturated, thermosetting polyester resin. This resin acquires its desired properties during heat curing: high elasticity and resistance. This technology allows a helmet shell characterized by high strength with low weight.
The AIM helmet shell is designed to distribute the forces acting during an impact over the helmet shell. The outer shell and inner core may show damage, but the rider's head is afforded the greatest possible protection.
Heavy, hard outer shells do not have this property and transfer the energy of an impact to the inside of the helmet without reduction. The outer shell may be undamaged, but the rider suffers head injuries. This is especially true of helmets designed to resist penetration by sharp objects.
Two factors determine the perceived weight of a helmet: the real weight of the helmet and the dynamic weight caused by wind pressure and acceleration.
In the event of an impact, the real weight is decisive for the acceleration forces acting on the neck.
The heaviest part of a helmet is the helmet shell. Because the helmet shell is also the part that is subjected to the most stress during a fall, the requirements for a lightweight helmet shell are complex.
Shoei's vast experience in processing fiber composites has enabled it to develop the extremely strong yet lightweight AIM and AIM+ helmet shells.
Polystyrene core with different densities
Every Shoei helmet sold in Europe has an inner shell adapted to the European head shape.
The combination of several styrofoam elements in different densities provides effective impact absorption.
- The upper part of the inner shell is softer than the outer part.
- The relatively hard outer part of the inner shell increases the absorption capacity in the event of an impact.
This technology was developed and patented by Shoei.
Styrofoam has very good shock absorption properties. However, there is one drawback: if the Styrofoam core is compressed by an impact, it will expand back to its original size after a considerable amount of time. It looks intact, but by no means achieves the same shock absorption properties as before.
This is also the reason why Shoei does not test helmets after an accident. It is impossible to judge whether the helmet is still safe.
Wearing comfort and fit
The shape and material of the pads play an important role in the comfort and fit of the helmet.
- The material that touches the rider's skin is critical to comfort.
- The fit of the helmet affects how well the helmet holds the rider, especially at high speeds.
In the past, these requirements often played against each other. Thick, soft pads provided good comfort, but the helmet did not have a good grip at high speeds.
Shoei has taken its own approach to designing the padding. The helmet's styrofoam core is molded close around the rider's head. This allows thinner pads to be used. These are produced in a complex process from several layers of polyurethane foam in different hardnesses or by a three-dimensional cut from a block.
The result offers high comfort and a perfect fit, even at high speeds.
The closure system
Currently, Shoei offers two different closure systems for the chin strap, depending on the helmet model.
The double-D system is mainly used in Shoei's "sporty" helmets. This system is mandatory for racing helmets. It offers the greatest reserves in the event of a fall.
Shoei's more comfort-oriented helmet models are equipped with a Microrat system. Unlike most other systems, the Shoei micro-ratchet system has a stainless steel locking mechanism. This ensures maximum safety in addition to comfort.
The Shoei Visor System
All Shoei visors are injection molded from polycarbonate. This guarantees a clear and distortion-free view.
The visor protects against small foreign bodies and absorbs 99% of of UV rays.
The non-mirrored visors have a scratch-resistant coating.
All current visors are equipped with Shoei's Q.R.B.P. system, which allows easy change without tools
