  Tech-Air 10 is the latest innovative autonomous airbag in the Tech-Air family from Alpinestars. Derived from Alpinestars airbag technology used by MotoGP riders, Tech-Air 10 is a slim, self-contained, wearable airbag system that provides unparalleled body protection to racers, track day riders and road riders by covering the rider's shoulders, chest, entire back and hips.

  Comfort/features:

  • A wireless LED indicator shows the operating status of the airbag.
  • The wireless LED indicator can be attached to the rider's arm to check the status of the system. Depending on the rider's preference, the LED indicator can also be attached to the motorbike.
  • The integrated, certified lithium-ion battery has a runtime of 24 hours in riding mode.
  • The Tech-Air 10 system requires approximately 4 hours to recharge a discharged battery using the supplied USB charger. A fully charged battery provides approximately 24 hours of operating time. If there is little time available, the battery can be charged for about 1 hour, giving an operating time of about 6 hours.
  • The system comes with a USB charger and a magnetic Type-C USB cable for quick, easy and convenient charging.
  • Developed from years of research with the world's best MotoGP riders and Alpinestars customers, data from millions of kilometres and thousands of crashes has been analysed to continuously improve the intelligent crash detection algorithm.
  • The Tech-Air 10 system is extremely easy to use; simply zip up the front and kidney belt to activate the airbag system and you're ready to ride. The internal belt automatically activates the system once it is closed and secured.
  • There is also a special area on the system's internal belt that serves as a charging station for the wireless LED indicator. A fully charged LED display has an operating time of at least 20 hours.
  • In race mode, the Tech-Air 10 system is only active when you are travelling at a speed greater than 60 km/h (37 mph) for at least 10 seconds. Before this activation or if the rider's speed continuously drops below this speed for at least 10 seconds, the system is deactivated. This is the default behaviour of the Tech-Air 10 airbag system in race mode, as it is normal for the driver not to want to deactivate the airbag in fast stop-and-go situations. In such situations, it is safer for the driver to have the system automatically deactivate the airbag to avoid unwanted airbag deployments.
  • The airbag itself is breathable and has air channels and a perforated back zone that provide better air circulation and increase driver comfort.
  • The Tech-Air 10 System can be quickly attached to the Tech-Air 10 Base Layer via easy-to-use side zips; allowing the rider to swap base layers between rides if desired.
  • The Tech-Air 10 System Base Layer is hand washable.
  • The total weight of the Tech-Air 10 (system and base layer) is 2,390 g in a medium size.
  • Tech-Air 10 is designed for track and road use and can be used with both RACE and STREET riding modes, which have special AI algorithms for camber detection. The RACE riding mode must only be used for closed circuit riding and should not be used for any other riding.
  • The Bluetooth connection to the Tech-Air app informs the rider about the operating status of the airbag system, the battery status and the MyRide ride data.
  • The Tech-Air app also allows the driver to update the system's firmware when new crash detection algorithms are released.
  • The Tech-Air 10 system has an airbag that is certified for up to three inflations. After each deployment, when the system is brought in for service, the authorised Alpinestars Tech-Air Service Centre will perform an airbag inflation test to check if the airbag was damaged during the deployment. If the inflation test is passed, confirming that the airbag was not damaged during deployment, the service will only include the replacement of the gas shock absorbers. If the inflation test is not passed, it means that the airbag was damaged during deployment and the system will undergo a full service that includes replacement of the inflators and airbag. On the third deployment, it is mandatory that the system undergoes a full maintenance, which includes replacing the gas generators and the airbag.

  Safety:

  • Designed to protect the shoulders, chest, entire back and hips of the motorcyclist, the Tech-Air 10 offers the most comprehensive protection of any airbag currently available.
  • The state-of-the-art Tech-Air 10 wearable airbag system features an active electronic system with 12 sensors (3 triaxial accelerometers and 1 triaxial gyroscope) and an impact detection algorithm that uses AI to accurately monitor when the airbag is deployed in an impact.
  • The impact absorption when wearing the airbag reduces the impact force by up to 95% compared to a passive protector. When deployed, the Tech-Air 10 airbag system provides the same protection as 18 back protectors.
  • The Tech-Air 10 has CE Level 2 certification for both the chest and back areas.
  • As soon as an impact is detected, the protective airbag deploys, offering the rider unrivalled protection with a maximum inflation time of 40 ms.
  • The Tech-Air 10 airbag system offers even more comprehensive protection by providing additional protection for the rider's hip and requires two argon gas generators to fill the entire volume of the larger airbag when it is deployed in a crash. The Tech-Air 10 therefore does not have the dual charge concept as the Tech-Air Race system.

  Compatibility:
  Tech-Air 10 can be worn under any Alpinestars Tech-Air Ready or Tech-Air compatible leather suit or any other manufacturer's leather suit that provides 4 cm of space around the rider's chest circumference and 2 cm of space around the rider's hip circumference. The extra space around the chest and hip area is necessary to allow the airbag to inflate in the event of an accident.
  
  Good to know:

  • after deployment the vest has to be sent in, because only trained personnel is allowed to take care of the repair of the gas cartridges and air bags - deployment service 419,95 EUR
  • if the airbag is still intact, only the gas cartridges are exchanged - Inflator Check 189,95 EUR
  • every two years the vest should be sent in for maintenance - Maintenance Service 104,95 EUR
